Cookie Policy

Last updated: 19 May 2026
Effective date: 19 May 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Gwyneth Jewellery Limited (Company No. 16481877) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. It supplements our Privacy Policy and applies to all visitors and registered trade customers.

We operate this website in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Our position is to use the minimum number of cookies necessary to operate the site, the checkout, and basic security.

1. What Are Cookies

1.1 Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites function, to remember preferences, and in some cases to track activity across sites.

1.2 Cookies are typically categorised as:

  • Strictly necessary: Required for the website or checkout to function. No consent required under PECR.
  • Functional: Remember preferences such as language or region. Consent generally required.
  • Analytics / performance: Measure visitor behaviour in aggregate. Consent required.
  • Advertising / marketing: Track users across sites for targeted advertising. Consent required.

2. Our Approach

2.1 We use only strictly necessary cookies as our default. We do not use:

  • Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other third-party analytics service;
  • Advertising or remarketing cookies (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.);
  • Social media tracking pixels (LinkedIn Insight Tag, Twitter / X pixels, etc.);
  • Cross-site tracking cookies of any kind.

2.2 The only third party that processes data on our checkout is Stripe (for payment processing). Stripe sets a small number of strictly necessary cookies on its payment iframe for fraud detection. See stripe.com/gb/privacy.

2.3 If at any point in the future we introduce functional, analytics, or marketing cookies, we will update this policy and request your consent through a cookie banner before they are activated. You will be able to accept or reject non-essential cookies.

3. Cookies We Currently Use

3.1 The following cookies may be set on your device when you visit our site:

3.1.1 WordPress Core (Strictly Necessary)

  • wordpress_test_cookie: Confirms that your browser accepts cookies. Session.
  • wordpress_logged_in_[hash]: Keeps you logged into your trade account. Up to 14 days.
  • wp-settings-[user_id]: Stores admin dashboard preferences (only if you are logged into a trade account). 1 year.

3.1.2 SureCart (Strictly Necessary — E-commerce)

  • surecart_cart: Remembers the contents of your wholesale order cart between pages. Session.
  • surecart_session: Maintains your authenticated session through checkout. Session.

3.1.3 Stripe (Strictly Necessary — Payment Security)

  • __stripe_mid: Stripe machine identifier for fraud prevention. 1 year.
  • __stripe_sid: Stripe session identifier for fraud prevention. 30 minutes.

3.1.4 These Stripe cookies are set only on pages where the Stripe payment iframe is loaded (typically checkout). They are required for Stripe’s PCI-compliant fraud detection and cannot be disabled without breaking payment functionality.

3.1.5 Cookie Consent (Strictly Necessary — Our Consent Tool)

  • cmplz_consent_status: Records your cookie consent choices. 365 days.
  • cmplz_id: Anonymous consent record identifier. 365 days.

3.1.6 These cookies are set by our cookie consent banner so we can remember your choice and avoid showing the banner on every visit. Without them, you would be asked to consent every page load.

4. Third-Party Cookies Summary

4.1 The only third party that may set cookies on your device through our website is Stripe Payments Europe Ltd, and only on checkout pages. Stripe’s cookies are governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy at stripe.com/gb/privacy.

4.2 We do not knowingly load any other third-party scripts, embeds, or trackers that set cookies on your device.

5. Your Choices

5.1 Strictly necessary cookies: Cannot be switched off because the website would not function (no login, no cart, no checkout). PECR does not require consent for strictly necessary cookies.

5.2 Non-essential cookies (if introduced in future): You will be able to accept or reject these through our cookie banner. You may revisit and change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the website footer.

5.3 Browser-level controls: You may also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking all cookies will likely prevent you from logging in, adding items to cart, or completing checkout.

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

6. Do Not Track

6.1 Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because we do not operate cross-site tracking, DNT has no practical effect on our site. Our cookie practice is the same whether DNT is enabled or not.

7. Changes to This Policy

7.1 We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use or when regulations evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.

7.2 Material changes (such as introducing analytics or marketing cookies) will be communicated through the cookie consent banner and, where relevant, by email to active trade customers.
